WHO I AM

When people ask me how I became a literary translator, I like to say it was a natural evolution rather than a career switch. For more than 30 years I taught English literature to Italian students, living every day with novels, plays, and poems — dissecting their rhythms, admiring each individual voice, and helping my students discover the multiple layers of meaning. Translation was, in many ways, the next chapter in that wonderful journey.

My long periods in English-speaking countries gave me more than just fluency. They showed me how a language carries culture — the unspoken undertones, the humour, the subtle shifts of tone that can make or break a story. That awareness is something I now bring into every project I undertake.

I started training as a translator while I was still teaching, completing specialized courses that gave me solid grounding in both theory and practice. But learning never really stops — I keep studying, reading and exploring new approaches because every text brings its own challenges.

I’ve translated dozens of books for a variety of audiences, and have worked with both publishing houses and independent authors.

For me, translation isn’t just work — it’s passion, curiosity, and the joy of carrying stories across borders, so they can meet new readers.
